Jack Masters, Joe Manning and I met with Joe Bacak this last weekend (March 14, 2004). He is living in a home in Sunnyvale, CA. While we were there members of his family visited him to celebrate his 86th birthday (his true birthday is March 15th).  Jack called Art Farwell, and Russell “Pete” McKnight and Joe talked to them. I was Joe's navigator and Pete was his second mech in crew six.  Art Farwell was the commanding officer at that time. Russell “Pete” McKnight and I were in Joe's crew in Japan in 1950.  First squadron to participate in the Korean war. We flew out of Johnson AFB and later Tachikawa AFB.  We then were the first squadron to move to the new NAS Atsugi when it opened.
