ANNUAL MINUTES 2006

Nashville Reunion

September 23, 2006

President, CDR Dave Masters brought the Annual Business meeting to order.

Asked the membership to stand and recite the pledge of Allegiance.  All members responded.

In Remembrance, a listing of deceased shipmates since our last reunion was read:

Leroy Engle-26 Dec 2005 Alfred Dobbs-17 Jan 2006 Art Farwell-18 Feb 2006,

Keith Brattain-1 Mar 2006 Fred Etherton-2 Jun 2006 Ellery Tuck-25 Jun 2006,

A moment of silence was requested in honor of our lost shipmates:  All members Responded.

 

Old Business:

Frank Lueder read the 2005 Association Minutes from October 11, 2005 Las Vegas Reunion.  The Association members present approved them as read.

Treasurer Report: The 2005 report was read and approved by all members.

Ford Island Memorial: Is scheduled to open December 7, 2006.

The Whidbey Island Patrol Squadron Memorial Park ground was broken in 2005.  The Park was completed on September 14, 2006.  This Memorial is dedicated to P2V Neptune Airmen having served in VP-1, VP-2, VP-4, VP-6, VP-17, VP-29, VP-57, VP-69, VP-812 and VP-931.

Dave Masters talked to other VP-6 ERA Groups about holding the next reunion together at one site.  The 1955-1957 ERA Group said they would most probably attend with the Association if the reunion was held in Washington, DC 2007.

Reunion 2007: Locations for the 2007 Reunion were presented.  Suggested sites representing locations covering essentially the entire continental US and sites in Alaska and Hawaii were discussed and voted on by all members present.  It was decided by majority vote that the Washington, DC area on or around the first weekend in October should be coordinated.

Ladies Raffle: Our ladies did it again, the ASSOCIATION Thanks You!  A total of $907.00 was collected by the ladies and turned over to the ASSOCIATION for approved expenses.

Motions from the floor:

IRAQ TROOP CARE PACKAGES: Bill Day brought up that Don Bailey requested some care packages for his troops in Iraq.  A motion was made and seconded.  All members dug deep and we gave Bill $400.00 for the purchases, packaging and shipping of the care packages.

Ed Brown suggested as a group we consider in the future Branson, Mo. as a possible Reunion site for 2008.  He said he would send info from previous trip.

Roster Update: A plea was made for all former VP-6 members to update the roster when changes occur.  Please forward Postal address, Phone and E-mail address change information to Frank Lueder.

Membership Dues: All Members were reminded that Association dues for the upcoming year should be submitted by December 31 each year.  Please get yours in on time!

The Third Annual Business meeting adjourned at 10:55 AM on September 23, 2006.
