LTJG Potter's next squadron was VR2, flying JRMs. Following the Korean conflict LT Potter returned to NAS Pensacola as a Flight Instructor. For 2 years LT
Potter taught basic airwork and instrument flying in the SNJ. In 1956, he attended Aerial Photography School before reporting to FASRON III, Bermuda. During this tour LCDR Potter flew the UF, PBM, and P-5 aircraft.
He first flew the P-2 in April, 1958, at Brunswick, Maine, from where he deployed with VP-7 to Keflavik, Iceland, and Rota, Spain.
In May 1960, LCDR Potter was one of a select group chosen to implement the
then-new concept of a Replacement Air Group at NAS Jacksonville, Florida, serving as Maintenance Officer and Flight Instructor of VP-30 and later as Operations Officer, until receiving orders to VP-6. He became our
Executive Officer on September 3, 1963.
He holds the Korean Service Medal; American Theater Medal; World War II Victory Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Medal; and Japanese Occupation Medal.
CDR and Mrs. Potter,
the former Marian Boline, of Salem, Oregon, have 2 children: Robert and Gail.
